Photograph of Onion
Created For: "Digital Photography" course at Rasmussen College – Spring Quarter (2015)

Goal: The goal of this project was to use my knowledge of lighting, the rule of thirds, perspective, and color to photograph an ordinary object in a way that was visually appealing and intriguing.

Materials Used:
Canon EOS Rebel T5 Digital Camera
Adobe Photoshop

While photographing this onion, I used a lamp to make the highlights and shadows stronger and to mute the background color so the onion stood out. After I found the angle and lighting I wanted and snapped the final result, I did minimal editing in Adobe Photoshop so the image looked as natural as possible.

The editing I did focused on bringing out the textures in both the cutting board and on the onion, darkening the color around the onion so it stood out more, and getting rid of "noise" on the onion itself.
